She Let Go

She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go.

She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgments. She let go of the confluence of opinions

swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her.

She let go of all the 'right' reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry,

she just let go...

No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations.

No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing.

Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.

There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn't good and it wasn't bad.

It was what it was, and it is just that. In the space of letting go, she let it all be.

A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her.

And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair for the world grows in me

and I wake in the night at the least sound

in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,

I go and lie down where the wood drake

rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.

I come into the peace of wild things

who do not tax their lives with forethought

of grief. I come into the presence of still water.

And I feel above me the day-blind stars

waiting with their light. For a time

I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Less

How can you expect life to bloom

and miracles to unfold

when you cling so tightly, so fiercely?

Exhale,

release,

soften,

melt.

Life will flower, life wants to unfold.

Don't you hear it asking you to step back,

to do less, to surrender to its own beautiful flow?

Please, try less. Push less. Plan less, think less.

Don't stomp out the tender buds

longing to bloom all around you.

Relax your tight fingers, have faith,

and love the miracle

that blooms in your soft hands.

I let it go. It's like swimming against the current. It exhausts you. After a while, whoever you are, you just have to let go, and the river brings you home.
